East Side Union High School District Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)

How long will our schools in ESUHSD be closed? May 1st

Our spring break has been canceled.

Per the agreement of all six County Superintendents in the Bay Area in collaboration with local superintendents and the various County Departments of Public Health, school closures will continue through May 1, 2020.

Is there a possibility that schools would remain closed longer than May 1st? Yes.

We will follow the guidelines of the Santa Clara County Public Health Department in conjunction with the Santa Clara County Office of Education. We are leaning toward making a final decision on school closures for the remainder of the school year on April 20, 2020.

How will the closures impact the school year?

Will we have to make up lost days at the end of the school?

No. Because the shelter in place covers our spring break, we are adding these dates for our employees to the end of the year thus shortening the school year by five days. School will end on May 28, 2020.

How do we continue to provide access to learning for ALL students?

We will start the full implementation of Distance Learning on Tuesday, March 31, 2020. More information will be provided by Thursday, March 26, 2020.

If your child will be absent from school, please be sure to call in to clear your child's absence so he or she can get any missed class work.  Scheduling doctor appointments on Mondays during or after collaboration, whenever possible, is also a great way to ensure students do not miss valuable instructional time.  The attendance office can be reached at 408-347-6522 or  408-347-6513.
